Spelling is a spell: #goood and grateful, special project with Vogue Italia

This week, at gOOOders we are launching a gratitude project with Vogue Italia, which, you can guess, we are very grateful for. We have amazing people participating in this, so we hope the collaboration sells out! Which means we will help more for people in need. And that's what we feel we should be doing for Christmas, helping ourselves first by saying a word of gratitude, helping others around us and wearing something nice that we like!

Eva Geraldine, our founder, tells us how she dreamed up the collaboration and who will be benefiting from it.

Goooders: How did this bandana collaboration with Vogue Italia come about?

Eva: Well, it started with a simple conversation. I was talking to Francesca, who is a very good friend of mine and she mentioned that the Vogue Italia team was working on the December issue, and that the theme was on gratitude.

And I was so happy to hear that. Gratitude is one of my big values. Especially inspirational words: I am always writing on my hands words of gratitude, because I think it's a big tool to attract more of what you want in your life, if you are grateful for what you have already. So I was thinking okay, okay...I have to come up with something for gOOOders x Vogue Italia.

I thought about the fact that I always say “spelling is a spell”. which I do every morning in my gratitude journal even the smallest things: my coffee, my dog, today I am wearing a nice dress, then of course, I'm grateful for my body and myself that are working, everyday supporting my vitality and my health.

While you are writing, words of gratitude and why you are grateful, it changes your mood. It changes how you perceive things around you. It’s so powerful that simple practice. And with cause and effect, it makes the universe bring you more of what you're grateful for. I should receive a shower of coffee every morning. [laughs]

Goooders: So what did you come up with?

Eva: Well I was thinking how can I translate this value of gratitude into something practical that is gonna benefit one of our gOOOd projects? Because we are in lockdown and I'm working with Milanese projects, especially this one called Cooperative Alice.

We really embrace their mission to build a more inclusive society that empowers individuals and supports sustainable development through craftsmanship. In particular, I am touched by the way they support women in detention centers around Milan.

So I thought, instead of having a gratitude journal, let’s have a beautiful cotton bandana, take this as a canvas. And let's have people that we consider gOOOders writing words of gratitude on those bandanas so we can sell them, we can wear them. And of course the proceeds go to the Cooperative Alice, gOOOders is not taking any money on this project.

Goooders: What's most important for you about this?

Eva: It's a project of awareness for something that we really believe in. Through it, we are helping these women and hopefully we will also inspire other people to understand the power of gratitude

Goooders: and how stylish are these customised bandanas!

Eva: Right, these are not just meaningful [bandanas] but they are also beautiful: they are so nice to wear because they are 70cm x 70cm. To give you an idea, it’s the same size as an Hermes carré.

So you can wear it as a scarf, as a flower or in your head as a, you know, as a belt and, so you know, practical too. Watch my Instagram video if you want to see how I wear it!

Goooders: so who joined you in this adventure?

Eva: We have sixteen fantastic people participating in this project: amazing talent from film, fashion, design, music like Alessandra Ferri, Anna Dello Russo, Nina Yashar, Saturnino, and we are so happy they joined forces with us and Vogue Italia.

Hopefully we will sell out, which means we will help more for people in need. And that's what we are supposed to do for Christmas, you know, helping ourselves first by saying a word of gratitude, helping others around us and wearing something nice that we like!
